Ahhh, the exploding scoreboard. I remember that. There was a brief period in the late 80's/early 90's where there seemed to be an effort to make digital gauges popular. It was easier to install digital gauges than to redesign the dash to accommodate analog gauges with airbag steering wheels.

This may sound like pride of ownership, but I bought an Acura TL back in 2005 and I think it's the best navigation system I've come across. The screen size is large, the text is clear and the software is intuitive. Most importantly, I can use it while I'm driving. I rely on my Nexus 4 for things like gas stations

The GM J Platform! Did I win?

To summarily dismiss Consumer Reports because only old people read it is patently absurd. Consumer Reports is an information source, and a good one at that. If the infotainment system in your car does not function easily or reliably, that's a flaw and it should be reported - especially if the flaw interferes with

Well done, citizennick. I lol'd.

Fios. The one thing I enjoy when visiting the in-laws. Over 70Mbps and they use it to email and download games on their iPads. Talk about having a Ferrari and no license to drive.

You must not get out of the city much. I live in Chicago. The drivers we have are perfectly well behaved when compared to south Florida's impatient, belligerent and aggressive drivers. I drove I-95 nearly every day for about five weeks when I was on a job. There was a different single car accident in the ditch or

OBD1 isn't anything that special… except for the whole "exempt from emissions regulations" thing. Not sure if that's been adopted in most states, but it applies in Illinois. If you're modding your Miata, you can do whatever you want and no one will say boo about it.

Counterpoint: Any Miata built before the 1996 model year.

That's true, but that's the march of technology. We are now able to extract much more power from the same fuel. I think it was Modern Marvels that had a show on gasoline and they raced a VW Golf against an old Ferrari or Maserati race car from the 50s and the Golf absolutely spanked the Ferrari.

Jay did a great job explaining the Miata's appeal to car guys. I knew when I bought mine in 1991 that I was getting into something special.

Not to detract from the Corvette, but it took a lot longer for Chevy to hit the million unit mark. The Corvette came out over 60 years ago. The Miata has been around less than half that time.

Miatas are fun in stock form, but they were always short on power. In some situations, like mountain roads, the stock Miata would be a stellar if it wasn't struggling against its own weight. Turbos and superchargers really help in that regard. It maintains the "Miataness" of the original design but delivers a bit

Exactly. I drove my 91 naturally aspirated for 17 years before I swapped in a larger engine and turbo kit. It still drives very much like a stock Miata if you don't build manifold pressure with the turbo.

Early Miatas came with a small airfoil to increase pressure on the wiper arm while at speed.

I witnessed some valet guys parking a guy's WRX STi the garage of my girlfriend's building. I reported it to the restaurant and later found out it was someone from the hotel on the next block.

I feel so bad for Honda for getting fleeced like this. It's as if Sonnenfeld and Seinfeld conspired to take their money and convince them the ads are good based on the power of their names.

$450,000 buys an awful lot of rehab. That's 10 years of undergraduate tuition and fees at Sarah Lawrence College, our nation's most expensive institution of higher learning. Nothing says "I fucked up as a parent" more than having to cut a check that large for ONE kid.

Stop saying "amazeballs". It will never be a thing.
