Because Starlink is primarily targeting remote area users where high speed internet service is difficult and expensive, there simply may not be enough target users to recoup the massive initial investment.

If I were looking for a family capable of handling tough roads, I can’t imagine picking this over a 4dr Rubicon, Bronco, 4Runner or Lexus GX.

If they’re needed to Lexus-ify anything, it would be the Supra. Except they won’t because then it would compete directly with the Z4.

I seriously doubt that Lexus would ever brand/sell something that they didn’t manufacture themselves.

Are they as safe, low maintenance, comfortable, and reliable as a 2021 car? Some people have different automotive priorities.

I was looking at 2021 200 Series Land Cruisers for fun last week, they’re charging $10,000 ADM (Additional Dealer Markup) and people are paying for them.

Modern cars are the equivalent of a shiny new Apple watch, it does everything you could ask a watch to do and so much more, but its never going to have the impact on the owner that a 1954 Rolex Submariner does. It’s only a watch, and not a particularly accurate or durable one. But it’s undeniably cool, elegant,

I love the old Toyota V8 as much as anyone but Im not afraid of this new turbo motor. Toyota doesn’t half ass things.

Except the only powerplant you can get is Toyota’s version of the Ecoboost engine.

If you think prices are going down in 2024 you’re mistaken.

Both nostalgia’s are not equal at this point in time though.

How is $2M for an R34 worth it when half a mil for a 65 GT350 not?

The primary rarity of the car in the article is that it is an R34 a few years early (i.e. before the 25 year rule). The number of R34's you can legally buy in the US right now is (a) the number of Motorex cars plus (b) any other R34's like this one on Show&Display exemption. How many cars is that? 20, 30?

but young people these days do not care about cars and various car related lifestyle posing anywhere near as much as the generations before them

Disagree. When you can buy one of these new, right now:

The HP figure is a bit lower on the 300 than the LS, possible that they turned the boost down for longevity. I’m sure it has a different engine code, it’s likely most of the same parts with a slightly different tune?

Assumption is that this engine is the 3.5L twin turbo from the Lexus LS, so they’ve been running it for a few years.

I’ve owned three used cars in my life, and every single one of them left me stranded on a highway somewhere

Yeah screw the gutless S2000.

That “used (minimum) 12 year old car” is appreciating in value. Not depreciating like every 86/BRZ on the road.
