Read what Elumerere responded to you. It was said perfectly. You’re an edge case and EVs aren’t for you, but they are good for many people

Every EV on sale this century can easily handle a 50 mile commute with only 120v trickle charging at home.

I get the gas the manufacturer recommends. No reason to waste money on better gas for a car that can’t use it or punish an engine with worse gas than it was designed for. No reason to think about it more than that. This question is like asking “do you use gas or diesel?” Different cars need different fuels, use what

Everything she does recently is lashing out. She’s always looking for a reason outside of herself to be “the problem” rather than figuring out herself. It resonated not because she wanted Ian’s success, but because she realized that when someone powerful is literally begging to help give her whatever she wants, she

I think the point was that she’s not perfectly fine just liking her job playing video games. And she has been lashing out at outside things rather than figuring out/working on what would be better for her. She was talking to Ian about how she’s worried about her new relationship, after so long wishing for it to get

It’s not a review! It’s a “first drive.” It’s intended to give initial impressions. They’ve been writing these forever. Ugh.

Why? What about a loud, dirty, maintenance-needing engine screams “luxury”?

You do that. I think drinking enough to get drunk is more effort than this generic luxury crossover deserves. This is a great article, with no pretense of pretending some crossover shaped lump of “it’s fine” with a shiny badge deserves special thought or effort. If you want a jag and think a crossover is the right

First of all, this isn’t a review. It’s a “first drive.” So just quick impressions.

Always wanted to get one of these manual LSes and the shockingly cheap 400hp supercharged V8 from a Ford-era Jaguar (same block so I just imagine the swap will be doable, this was an idle daydream) to make the ultimate Lincoln LS. This one is manual and cheap plus already needs work, so for my purposes, it’s Nice

There’s a major difference between the scenarios I listed and the ones you did.

As an owner of one. It’s not. They suck. Great in 2010-2015, sure. And for the last 5 or so years there’s been an annoying dearth of non musk-mobile decent EV options. But for the 2022 model year EVs are the real deal.

Why would you buy a car that is worse 355 days a year just for the 10 days you need the capacity when rentals exist and are (usually, thanks covid!) cheaper than dirt? That’s just insane. Should we all buy box trucks because we need them to move every couple years? How about a 737 for everyone because we want to fly

What car do you own? I regularly can get longer than the rated epa range in decent conditions in both our ELR and 500e. Not in January or at 80mph, but around town at 70-85 degrees out with a little bit of caution? It’s easy to beat the official range even on a 7 year old battery.

Yeah, this isn’t for you. There’s just as many people who only ever tow things a couple miles (if at all), or use their truck for commuting, or in town business. For those people a gas truck is a bad buy, just like for you an electric one is a bad buy.

I know it’s a weird hill to die on, but it annoys the crap out of me when someone says the 2019 and earlier Ferrari engine was ‘illegal’ or ‘cheating’ when that has never been stated. There was a rule clarification and a private settlement.

The Prius Prime is lucky to do 25 miles in EV mode. My Mom+Sister bought one together a couple years ago. It’s basically useless, and I say that as the owner of a Cadillac ELR (at least I get more EV range and the car looks impressive, but it’s useless too. We’re smart consumers for sure)

True, but I assume this will be the bigger seller in the Taycan line as soon as they get stocked. After all it’s more like an SUV, which is all the idiots who buy cars these days seem to want. And, as you rightly said, most of what Porsche makes these days, sadly. I can still wander into a dealer and not even notice

It’s one of the few knocks I see against these cars, why do I want a glass roof? Most cars aren’t tall enough for me to wear a hat, but I will get a scalp sunburn if I’m exposed to extended overhead sunlight, so theres literally zero appeal to me for the panoramic roof, just let me skip it! I’ve had many sun/moonroofs

Check inventory around you again. By my count it seems to me there are plenty of Taycans at most dealers, not surprising since they expect to sell more of them than 911s this year
