Travis Kalanick needs to go if Uber wants to really succeed at its strategic goals. The level of risk related to his inability to manage crises and the apparent corporate culture he fosters. The myth of the Maverick CEO isn’t worth all the flack.

But......but.....tech disruptor, brah.
The problem with a company which is founded on a core principle to undermine laws and regulations (although I acknowledge those laws and regulations can be deeply flawed) is that it probably would create a corporate culture that’s kinda shady. That attitude is bound to spill over into other aspects of the companies…
GM: has cars out on the road testing
Me thinks you have that backwards. The Bolt is based on the same platform as the Sconic and Trax. The power train is an variation/ evolution of the Volt and Spark EV (co developed w/ LG)

I’ve posted this article before, but it remains a good read.
What part of “collective bargaining” didn’t you understand?
Ford instituted weekends for his gain and his gain only. Weekends off meant his employees had Saturday to go buy cars. Ford was both anti labor and a giant racist.
The problem is a factory worker (who unlike White Collar workers gets idled from time to time when the line is reconfigured) can’t do jack squat with equity options. They vest over long periods and usually can’t get cashed out for an emergency.
Henry Ford isn’t singlehandedly responsible for weekends. Thats a remarkably absurd comment that ignores the entire history of the labor movement. I am not denying that Ford was a labor visionary in many senses, but it was the labor movement that forced the issue.
How are the stocks paid to the employees? $5/hr worth? An up front allocation which increased in value, meaning the holder got “paid”? Stock compensation doesnt pay the rent, unless you sell it. If you hold the stocks, and they go down, you just got paid less.
Very true, BUT in a state with such a high cost of living your base pay is pretty damn important. It doesn’t matter how much any employer matches your 401k if you can’t afford food after you pay your rent.
Lol, you like weekends, buddy? Go thank your nearest labor union
The only reason non-union employers have similar wages and benefits to union employers is because they have to in order to draw the labor. That’s one of the side perks of unions: They keep other employers honest, too.
Perhaps Kristin Cavallari can join Trump’s anti-vaxx cabinet with Kennedy, DeNiro and Wakefield.
I have a three-year-old son with autism, a 10-month-old son, and a couple of anti-vaxxer in-laws.
