That is not why St Pete has the Devil Rays. They got the team so MLB could avoid a lawsuit for blocking the SF Giants to St Pete.

There was market research that came out right before the D Rays made their WS run. And at that time they were, I believe the 4th or 5th most popular team in the market behind the Yankees, Red Sox, Cubs and I want to say even braves.

Minneapolis-St Paul market has a million more than the Tampa-St Pete Clearwater market. The Per Cap income is 14,000 dollars higher. UM football attendance is 50k or less compared to the nearly 200,000 attendance that occurs between FSU, uf and USF on a per combined game basis.

No matter where you put it in this market it is a 45 min drive for 75% of the fan base.

So much this. The market as a whole has 5 F1000 companies (and its the St Pete side with the bigger companies). This is not a major legal, sales or accounting market. Its one of the poorest per cap income markets with pro teams. There is a ton of stuff to do outside of going to sports like this crazy place the

You forgot June, September, October, May and most Aprils too. Seriously if they had a moveable roof there might be 10 games a season that they would have it open for.

How is it in the middle of nowhere? It’s just off the interstate in a city of over 260k and a county that is just under a million people. The middle of nowhere (at least after 5 or one the weekends) is downtown Tampa.

Tampa is a poor market without a major corporate base. Too few dollars chasing too many corporate boxes.

If you think St Pete sucks I can assume you either enjoy office parks or thought Tampa was pure hell.

3- No one told Stu to eat shit. He just did nothing after making the pitch. No one in Hillsboro or Tampa heard from him again about financing. It’s the oddest thing maybe ever in the stadium game.

You would think this kid was Mike Trout and Rock the way dead spin talks about his baseball potential. He is a shortstop with no power without his football exploits he would not even be Manny Machado famous.

If they wanted to chance ruining Vlad’s career sure they could have had him on opening day. He had 48 games of advanced A and showed insane potential but that is again against advanced A players.

It won’t be the Pats because they will win again next year and Brady will retire and they will tank for Lawrence and then win another dozen titles.

Shouldn’t it be the Rams upset at the no call on that OPI?

Don’t worry you brought a reasonable argument so in the future I am sure Deadspin will continue to go with well their previous talking point that the Cards were a team that would lose to a decent HS football squad from say Utah.

You just described how half of Hollywood got its job.

I have easily seen Die Hard and Speed the most. I would assume I have seen Die Hard more but there was a time I would just have speed on in the background doing homework or what ever.

Hello fellow Jim. I have nothing against the transmission but if the death of the manual means the end of the crying about the death of the manual I will join your party.

Rich old guys buy these cars. Rich old guys either don’t care to or don’t know how to shift their own gears.

How the hell is this a vast marketing conspiracy? Company sees places like Gawker running with GB fans are the worst. Company feeds stories to Publicist and other hacks like they do for every other movie. Oh god that is up there with the Moon Landing is a hoax. How could anyone dare pull off such a master stroke.
