I’m not being snarky, but are you aware that as recently as 12 years ago, she believed marriage should only be between a man and a woman?

“...unflinching support for LGBT rights...”
Now I am glad that I celebrated all of Arsenal’s injuries in the FA cup.
I mean those burns were pretty wet.
Billy argues that “The methods of enforced mediocrity in American sports sacrifice the ability to construct truly great teams at the altar of parity—an often illusory virtue that the public professes to value more than it actually does in practice.”
A surprisingly hard game: Who said it, Billy Haisley or Ayn Rand?
Yes, truly it is right and good for leagues to be run in such a way that the author has to beg God for an upset to the entrenched order.
I not only love that this is happening but I love how they play a totally old school England style of soccer, where the prem has been invaded by managers and their “philosophies” that preach defence, possession, and 5 at the back or 2 holding midfield formations. Leicester are rocking the 4-4-2, and killing teams with…
God, if you’re really there, please find Billy Haisley an editor who can shorten every one of his articles by 1000 words.
I could even cope with the general sense of negativity if there were something more to MLS reporting than “here are some kids that you may see on a World Cup roster at some point.” The Premier League got a three-part guide; the profile of Bournemouth, a team just up the Championship, was as long as this entire…
The coverage of MLS on this site is just gratingly full of itself, as if you cannot talk about the league without revealing your coolness and cleverness by trashing it first. For Eurosnob garbage fans in this country, to whom Screamer and Deadspin mostly cater, soccer is to be watched on television only, and…
It is at least New and Different Snark. May it herald the banishment of Haisley to the Arse-lona puff pieces we know are all he wants to write.
No MLS isn’t as good as the Championship, but who says that it is? It’s sort of pathetic to rip on the MLS so hard given that it continues to get significantly better and it’s our domestic league. Have some pride.
MLS runs from early March to early December. 9 months. Europe runs from mid-August to mid-May. 9 months. That’s how long a soccer season is.
Well, to be fair, this piece is somewhat charitable: “Yes, MLS is second-rate but there are some things worth looking at.” Because Redford wrote it and he actually seems to know his soccer. Or, at the very least, he doesn’t pretend to know it all. Unlike Haisley.
A thousand times this. If they were consistent they’d begin all their college football pieces with “Now we know this isn’t the NFL, but it’s still worth watching.” The anti-MLS thing just seems to be in place just for the sake of setting themselves apart.
There are plenty of reasons not to watch MLS.
Most Madrileños probably have no idea and wouldn’t give a shit if they did. Maybe you meant to ask about Madridistas?
You should watch MLS because that may convince you to go to a live game, which is always awesome.
