I don’t mean gig as in a paid performance. It’s simply a turn of phrase. My daughter is in dance and competition team purely out of her own desire to do so. She wants to be in musical theater for a career, so I support her. I have no personal investment in it other than whether or not it’s making her happy. That said,

A hassle, yes, bizarre, no. She wants to be in dance, she has chosen to compete in dance, she has to follow the rules of what she chose to do.

omg!

You just described my life.

It’s actually quite good quality, but I would never ever get one of their sports bras. Those are pretty much for the itty bitty committee only. I skip months and have never been charged for them.

I have a Fabletics subscription. It’s very easy to skip months and I’ve never been charged after skipping, but they do have more than just exercise gear. It’s all comfy, “atheleisure” clothes, but they have lounge pants, sweaters, wraps, etc as well as regular work out clothes. I will say the quality is pretty good. I

My nails are long-ish, about a quarter of an inch past my fingertip. I never think these kinds of styles look as elegant on me. Not enough space for the full effect I guess. I think the printing idea is fantastic, though. I struggle through stamping mine sometimes and I love patterns. Tried Jamberry things but they

Sponge bun forms FTW.

That manicure is sooo pretty, but I could not function with nails that long. I’m in awe of those who can.

I grew up in the South and have lived in Texas, and I have a large contingent of family in Texas. I have never seen this to be the case. I was actually an odd one out growing up since curly hair was what was in and mine wouldn’t take a perm. Yes there is a lot of racism in the South, but I think what you are

My mother’s good friend found out she was pregnant at 45. She thought it was menopause. Of course, she knew at about 15 weeks which gave her slightly more time to prepare, heh. This would make me want to die. I already have three kids, though. I guess if it was a first after thinking I never could I would be

I had to perform the hm once on my son a few years back. I learned how ages ago in the military, but had never used it. When he started choking on a piece of bacon, though, it all came flooding back. It wasn’t until after it was out that I panicked. I’m grateful my brain didn’t react in the reverse manner.

Well that’s pretty damn awesome.

I’m absolutely demanding at regular school. My children have a right to an education and it will be the best one I can get them. Dance school? Ehhhh. Not worth it, and not really my place. She’s one on a team of many.

Most coaches and directors have no patience for demanding parents. Make no mistake, it’s always the parents that are the problem. OMG they can be ridiculous. My daughter dances at a small, fairly laid back school (because no way could I handle more than that) and even there some parents get nutty.

But when you dance, if a bun is required you can’t expect your director is going to allow one girl to have a ponytail. I’m not saying it’s rational, just that this is how competitive cheer works.

I don’t think the coach was saying only straight ponys are acceptable in cheer. It’s more like for a certain routine, the squad chose straight ponys. Do some squads and gyms allow different styles? Probably. It’s also probably more common when cheering for a high school or college. That is not what this girl was

I will say when all together it doesn’t look so much like little girl hair. It just looks like crazy cheerleader hair.

I think so, too. It’s an elite, internationally competitive squad/gym. You know what you are signing on to with that. Reading the source article and seeing that the mom told him she wouldn’t “compromise her daughter’s natural talent and beauty” sealed my opinion.

It’s completely silly, but that’s what they ALL look like.
