Thankfully the play kitchen market remains pretty gender neutral. Most everyone I know with sons still gets the kitchen sets. I guess everyone agrees we all need to learn to cook?

Well, we girls played with “boy toys” like trucks and blocks, but in the 70s it still would have induced panic in most social circles if you gave a boy a baby doll. When my 6 year old son went through his Doc McStuffins phase, he was outraged that only girls got Doc t-shirts. He didn't want to wear purple, sparkly, puff-sleeved shirts (though he does like pink and purple in general), he just wanted a regular t-shirt with a favorite character on it. Why is this so hard!?
