It’s pretty simple really, the circular disk you see in the centre moves up and down to engage/disengage the spindle that holds and spins the disk. When the drive is engaged the disk moves down to grab the disk. So this would allow the coin to lodge on top of the spindle and when the drive is disengaged is goes back…
