You can be right and also an asshole. The more severe the injustice, the more people will arise to combat it. This is not some new revelation.
Yea but it’s infinitely less of an annoyance than trying to get anywhere on the LIE or the parkways. If only they’d fix the speakers so you can hear what track your connection will be on.
Wasn’t that the standard line against being LGBT? That’s the worst takeaway ever. And before you ask, no one should be performing anywhere near this mess, unless the performance involves vomiting.
Republicans have simplistic, consistent, repetitive messaging. They have a well established propaganda apparatus. We suck at that. They’re so good at it that they can totally contradict themselves a month later with the opposite policy but make it sound like they have always advocated the same thing.
But They Vote, and people who vote need to be taken seriously. We need to convince them that their self interest does not lie with incompetent idiots like Trump. If you don’t engage then you are satisfied with the way they vote.
Then it will stay their own house. We need their votes! Convince them on policy and race will follow. Good economic and social policy benefits us all. Jobs programs, healthcare and safety nets benefit poor rural white racists and poor marginalized urban residents alike. It’s hard to change racism and bigotry, but…
Like it or not and as awful as they are, we do need their vote.
If students don’t want to hear it then they don’t have to attend. But it’s more than that, they don’t want anyone else to hear them either. I don’t support other people deciding for me what I can and cannot hear.
I don’t believe that obstruction is a form of speech. Whether you’re physically blocking a speaker from being heard or a woman from getting the care she needs, impeding people is wrong.
To let this happen would show their university that hate-filled events like this are a-ok. This way, I bet UC Davis will think long and hard before booking a bigot in the future.
I’m perfectly fine with laws against incitement of violence. The only thing I have left to add is that laws against hate speech are very close cousins to blasphemy laws and lese-majeste laws, and that makes me very uncomfortable. Though I imagine a law against hate speech in Canada is about as useful as a law…
Did you not see who was just elected president? Of course my opinion of the average person is pretty low.
Aaaaand that’s the problem Kara
Yes, shut it down! Shut everything down! We are the ultimate arbiters of what others are allowed to hear!
It’s always been that way. Radical progressives, who with the loudest voices become the defacto voice of the left, often take aim at their own side for not being sufficiently woke or whatever.
Then losing your job or a relationship is life threatening under that definition because people kill themselves all the time for those reasons. She has a living, breathing, functioning body, which is more than we can say about the person she murdered.
Um....no. Some are evil sure. The vast majority are decent people, and plenty are downright heroes. So stop with the us vs them please.
Fire and punish the people involved, overhaul the way the department is run, but don’t take it out on the taxpayers. Bla bla insurance, taxpayers get hit in the end.
It’s not chilling. You have the right to be in a public building. You do not have the right to remain in a public building indefinitely. The point of the protest was to be arrested, thereby raising awareness and increasing the public pressure on him. I support the NAACP in this, and that it was done in a peaceful…
