I really like these cars. More than the later ones, actually. But this is way too much dosh for way too little. Even what is visible is problematic; the ratty shifter and peeling lip point to possible other invisible areas of concern. CP.

The Alfa and Bug are scary. The Bentley isn’t as flat-out fast, but it’s much less terrifying.
Reduced steering effort, and greater durability. It’s not like you had a particularly large contact patch either way.
The question is not whether the head gaskets will fail, but how fast will they be moving when they fly out from between head and block.
Except for the colour, I love it. NP.
What? All things are relative. Ask me whether I’d prefer a Dart Demon 340 or a new Challenger SRT Demon. The vintage muscle car would lose a drag race to a new Camry or Accord, but in the day it was fast. And it’s still the one I’d want.
I’m not saying old cars are better, mind. I’d still prefer something new to drive…
I love those first-gen Talon/Eclipse/Laser cars. I was a Honda Civic owner at the time they were popular; I never had enough power to match the 4G63, but I could run past them in the corners.
If it’s a US-market Spit, that’s because it’s the least powerful Spitfire ever made. The Mk.III cars are much quicker than Federal 1500s. The 1300 cc engine also revs much more happily than the 1500. That said, you can get 80+ lb-ft out of a mild 1500 build - you’ll never see that from a 1300.
The thing about older performance cars (IMHO) is that they make you work more for the speed. The older they are, the more you work. And that’s why they are fun. There’s only so much joy to be had going fast in a modern technomarvel that does everything for you, especially when the car’s limits are such that the…
The Democratic party was pulled right when the GOP abandoned the center-right and went full fascist. You’re fooling yourself if you ever thought it was really as left-leaning as Sanders or Warren are.
I live in South Carolina. Can I just nominate, like, all of them?
Shoveling, or generating? He is a horse’s ass, after all.
As if that weren’t bad enough, the newspaper also is being criticized for burying the lead in the original story...
Very. Stable. Genius.
Did somebody say turbo Cresta?
Ponderous? No. But there is certainly a feeling of mass. But the engine is stupendously torquey low-down, at least compared to modern cars. The pedal positioning is odd, with the throttle in the center and brake outboard. But it’s much more engaging than a modern car (modern being anything post 1950 or so); having to…
I’ve been lucky enough to drive a 4 1/2 Litre converted to blower spec. They are magical cars. The 12 buyers of these (assuming they ever, you know, drive them) are very lucky people.
Bentley (and Rolls-Royce) are famous for never throwing anything away. Damaged some veneer in your 1970s Shadow? For a price they can go to the archives and pull the saved lumber and cut a new piece. Need a harness for your Turbo Eight? Well, they were all hand built, so they can pull the board out of the attic to run…
I’m popping around the corner to the National Guard vehicle park and borrowing an M35A2. I know they have a couple. Multifuel engine FTW.
