It’s hard to ask for in the US partly because tap water tastes so bad in some areas and all the water is filtered and the water filter is on the soda machine - where everything is chilled.

Even so, it seem like a legitimate issue if there’s a difference between what the math should be and what the (attempt) at math produced. If the person entered 15 on the total line, even if the math didn’t add up to that, it’s not unreasonable to demand they be charged 15.

When I was a server we used to have to use whatever they put in total line regardless of tip amount for this exact reason.
