Having a wireless option, whether Airplay or Bluetooth, can make things much more convenient...but you can't charge your iPod/iPhone from the speakers if they're not connected. I dock my iPhone to my Logitech s715i and can use it all day without having to worry about running my battery down.

It depends on needs/wants. I use my Logitech everywhere and the battery lasts all day. I bring it out to the garage, take it on the road with me when I travel, plug it into my laptop and use it for small presentations... Can't do any of those with your average speaker/receiver combo.

The Logitech stand does lock into place.

If it wasn't for Adblock Plus, I wouldn't visit Giz....

Sam,

This is just muckraking. This is not an unusual business model for a software services company. Example — Oracle's PeopleSoft. PeopleSoft is provided to companies to manage HR information. It is customized to the customers' specifications, collecting and managing the companies' HR data. Oracle never owns the

I have The Complete Calvin & Hobbes and The Complete Far Side (both given to me by my wife). I sometimes grab a volume and sit down for a brief nostalgia trip, but both of my kids have read them cover to cover.

There are several companies which offer pretty cool mods for iPhones. China Ontrade has a bunch of good stuff:

Yes, and at least the Mythbusters accomplished something. The turd no longer looked like a turd. Autotuned music still sounds like crap.

The only thing this one doesn't do is let go of its payload....

Scroll down an bit and look at the video posted by the real david. Straight from the local news. It's legit. The sheriff's department spokesman is JD Nelson, one of the Mythbusters' bomb experts.

Blam used to troll....and he did it well. I think the current issue is just the result of Gizmodo being Gawkerized — facts are rarely checked, proofreading almost never happens, credit to original posters is sometimes left out, and apologies are never given when a rare error correction occurs.

It's like parents trying to talk in their kids' language and failing miserably....but in reverse.

According to iLounge and Extreme Tech, Apple baked Carrier IQ into iOS as its diagnostic tool, so choosing "Don't Send" in Diagnostics and Usage is preventing the sending of Carrier IQ info. I suspect it still collects data and is just prevented from transmitting it, though. Also, note that this option is only

iLounge has an article about making sure this is turned off on the iPhone. Go to Settings — General — Diagnostics and Usage and make sure "Don't Send" is checked. That's all there is to it. I think it's off by default, so even if the Carrier IQ software is there, nothing gets sent unless you opt in.

I love my Sonos. I've been using it with Napster and Pandora for years. I've been dreading the forced switch from Napster to Rhapsody. It's nice to know I have some additional choices now.

OK...I take back the "+1" and curse you instead. Four the past four hours. I've had "Gay Bounce!" stuck in my head.

+1!!! Heinlein hooked me on SF as a teenager. His stuff got a little weird towards the end, but he always wrote so well I didn't care.

Now playing

There are better ways of getting oil....

Anybody want to provide a link to the stolen iPhone article?
