Im basically okay with them not showing up. Maybe, depending on what the story entails, a cut away to see DD and JJ and the other Defenders helping people on the street during a Thanos-level crisis, but otherwise, Im not sure they’d fit very well. They’re cool characters, and work best in character-centric roles, not

Crouching Tiger was the first dvd I ever bought. I LOVED Li Mu Bai and Shu Len and hated that he had to die, and agreed that both Chow and Michelle really SOLD the relationship, it was beautiful.

The obvious difference is it’s not directed by Ang Lee.

No I can imagine likewise if two white american hollywood actors delivered the same scene, but with silly faux ‘Inspector Clouseau’ french american accents but speaking english dialogue, we’d groan and roll our eyes while non-english speaking audiences who rely on subtitles in their native language probably wouldn’t

As someone who really enjoys listening to Mandarin spoken (but doesn’t actually speak it) I can only imagine how annoying that must have been.

Three thoughts:

I am in for Michelle Yeoh and Michelle Yeoh alone.

Whomever thought that trailer music would appeal to fans of the original Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon is not very good at their job.

You’re right, his career is not what it should be. Don’t forget Soldier, and I saw in a pretty decent Singaporean movie some years ago.

I thought the original was literally as Hollywood as you could get. This reminds me of the kinds of wuxia flicks Hong Kong always should have been making.

He’s also getting older. They aren’t even a decade apart in age.

I doubt it’ll be in the movie.

Have you ever seen The Storm Riders? If you haven’t you should, it predates Crouching Tiger and shows that CG + Wuxia doesn’t mean it’s bad.

That was a good movie.

Anyone else a little worried this is a bit more Hollywood than its predecessor? I’ve no doubt Yuen Woo-Ping will deliver the goods in the action department, and great seeing Donnie Yen in the cast, but I feel funny about the sequel being in English and the absence of original director Ang Lee. Fingers crossed.

Netflix trailers are almost always awesome. This is one of the exceptions. That song, whether it is good or not, just doesn’t fit. Like, ewww.

Ever since Michelle Yeoh pulled her sword stroke after Ziyi Zhang’s childish arrogance killed Yun-Fat Chow, I’ve been a member of Michelle Yeoh’s Army.

Capaldi is a classic Who fan, so he’s specifically thinking of how Ian did most of the stunts when the series began, and how Harry was meant to do all the stunts in the Fourth Doctor era until they realized Tom Baker could do his own stunts and Harry became redundant. I don’t think he means to say that female

Always has been.
