You’ve conflated the hypothetical in the inquiry with the Jezebel author’s acquaintance. The girl who asks Elle the question is talking about her behavior in ANY relationship, not thw behavior of a specific boyfriend.

I think what’s being missed is that the inquirer never actually says her boyfriends are actually looking at another woman. Maybe they are; maybe they aren’t.
