People would approach me with a camera and ask for a picture. I would think that they meant they were asking me to take a picture of them. But then they’d hand the camera to a friend and stand alongside me smiling. They wanted to be in the picture with me. Just like Debra’s doing here.

And I agree, it isn’t unusual but it’s also quite the minority.

It happened most when I hit tourist spots, possibly those most interested were not from the big city and/or China or elsewhere.

I’m white, blonde, and 5'7". When I was in Hong Kong, people took pictures with and of me nearly every day, as if I were an animal on display in a zoo. It was never in bad spirit, though. I was just something different than they were used to seeing.

I think many people project their dreams of vacations onto the luggage itself. I’m a budget spender like you, and I am still using my first “real” set of luggage that I bought from Target in 2000. I am interested in some pricier, more luxury-looking luggage now, though, because quite honestly it embarrasses me on

I suppose citing video evidence is fair.

You can’t always see injuries visibly - like broken teeth. And the third party is another drunk clubgoer. For all we know it could be a friend of the guys who allegedly jumped him. I’m just pointing out that this crowd is giving a lot of credit to the popo in this case where they’d be questioned in others.

Kicking females is a real goal of mine.

I hope the next time you see her you’re topless.

Thanks. Never heard of an independent baseball team before.

So when a black man with a criminal history is injured in police custody, it’s definitely the police lying. But when a white kid’s account differs from the police, they’re for sure the liar? Why do we give the police credit in this incident but not others?

No, I won’t. And just in case you forget: taunting someone with a weapon is stupid. Carry on.

My fantasy is to go back in time and train to be a female kicker.

Maybe the author didn’t know the difference.

Bingo. That’s what had me confused. I was thinking, “a minor league team, that’s cool!” and then kept looking for the MLB franchise affiliation. I don’t even understand what an independent league team does... do they play other independents? Do their players have an opportunity to get scouted by MLB orgs?

They were founded in 2014 but I also read they replaced another Sonoma team there. So that one was around for awhile, too, I guess.

Most of the ones I knew hung around with family and friends (at their homes) in the off season. They didn’t have established households and many bills of their own, which is helpful when you’re potentially moving around every year.

They don’t play for love of the game. They play hoping they’ll make it to the big leagues and big bucks. It’s a gamble.

10%?! That’s more than I thought.

It’s garbage, but they also know what they’re getting into. It’s like buying a lottery ticket. Further, the team covers a lot of the players’ expenses during the season, so that is part of their overall compensation. And while the annual breakdown may be small, they’re also not working the entire year.
