There are too many black men in prison for non-violent or at least relatively minor crimes. There is too large a disparity between the conviction rates and sentences given for black and/or poor defendants and white and/or rich ones.

I live in Colorado and know the DA who had this case. It was literally an open and shut case; Kobe was in for 20. He was an absolute punk in the back seat of the sheriff’s car; he confessed, threw Shaq under the bus (imagine the bus) and they dragged a 19 year-old girl through the scummiest shit any rape victim has…
