Exactly. In 2023, I could, if I wanted, go to any star’s twitter or instagram and tell them *directly* that I think they were terrible in their role. I wouldn’t, because I’m a reasonably well-adjusted adult, but I could. And people do! All the time. Sure the millions of dollars probably makes it a little worth it, but

The Razzies just feel like a relic of another time that has no meaning in today’s world. The internet has levels of cattiness and “we love to hate” energy that they can’t keep up with, while also making it much more obvious how toxic those attitudes can be for real people. Obviously nominating a kid for a bad acting

“Then you are called out for it. Then you get it. It’s why the Razzies were created in the first place.”

Ideal way for it to end is them to nominate themselves. They win the final razzies and exit in a blast of self-consuming loathing.

Great first step. Now just cancel the Razzies.

For example, in the film Avengers: Infinity War, a character named Thanos kills roughly 4 billion people.

because he’s generating clickbait that gets people angry?

Either way, it’s shocking that all of Perry’s editors at Macmillan signed off on it for release.

You’re going to be fine. This doesn’t affect you in any way. Please relax

It’s not a legal restriction. It’s more like, “My lawyers told me about 700 times that I shouldn’t talk about this in public.” They want to be able to control as much information related to the case as possible and having your client talking about it freely in a public forum hugely diminishes that control.

No law stopping her, but she could self-incriminate and give the prosecutor legal ammo.

Her statements sound like they were vetted by no less than a half dozen lawyers, agents and PR reps.

I find myself just really wishing him health and evolution”

This is a racist witch hunt, maybe focus on your white peers in government who are rolling back your civil rights instead of attacking a comedian and alienating people of color.

Dave mentored a trans comedian til her suicide.

Do people who condemn chappelle actually watch all of his stuff? Do they take into account they’re watching comedy rather than a political rally or an interview?

The missing thread here though is that those movements and laws stem from cultural attitudes which often stem from consumed media.

Agreed. Eddie Murphy was arguably a once-in-a-lifetime talent, and by Chappelle’s age he had actually tried to listen, learn, and apologize for his prior anti-LGBTQ+ rhetoric. Talent is no excuse for bigotry - and I’d even argue that if the notion of “talent” is in part intended to excuse such behavior, then we need

I take issue with his assertion that he’s a once in a lifetime talent, since I had to hear about him incessantly when I was 20 and again when I was in my 30s. If he described himself as a “once every few decades part of the cultural conversation, for reasons that would embarrass most people,” it would be more

Such a boring, flabby man with a boring, flabby act.
