People in rural locations have no trouble buying food, gas or prescription medications without a government mandated service. Mail won't be a problem either. Service will likely be less frequent, or will require that you pick up your mail from a post box, but that's not exactly a nightmare scenario.

I have a feeling that it will still be faster. Until the pre-boarders begin to significantly get in each other's way, doubling the number of pre-boarders won't double the pre-boarding time. In situations where 30-50% of passengers would need to be pre-boarded, they could use an alternative method.
Currently. I don't see why they wouldn't increase that number if they switched to this new method.
Parents and children still board first in this method. The fancy stuff comes after they are seated.
