the back button does something different depending on the app you're using. sometimes it goes back a step. sometimes it exits the app and goes to your previous app. sometimes it exits the app and goes to your desktop.

I don't think having a discount for bringing your own device is the point. Having the ability to switch carriers at any time or retaining a grandfathered plan (unlimited data for example) are the reasons most people buy retail phones rather than renewing a contract for a subsidized price.
