As a first time real MH player (dabbled for maybe an hour on PSP), I’m satisfied. Like when you eat and you know you should probably stop.

Definitely, running heavy bow gun and not getting anywhere, I burned through all my money, which definitely felt like DS. Switching to melee it definitely felt like DS, learn attack patterns, learn which move sets you can get away with, when to dodge.

I appreciate the hints. Given I played MH very briefly on the PSP, I figured I would try to go at this game more or less blind just for the fun of it.

Outside a group of friends I have accumulated over the years, the most fun was probably the oppositelock crew.
