Missed out on the oppomeet. The Z had brake trouble that left me on the freeway and was having some back and forth with the tuner regarding the tune.
I just merged onto the freeway, got up to speed, looked over to change lanes and looked back to see the cars in front of me SLAMMING on their brakes HARD.
Sorry to vent, but I don’t like to have people tiptoe around me at work or at home, so some internet catharsis.
I told myself I would drive my new-to-me Mini Cooper S stock for a few years, and replace parts with performance pieces as they were needed, that my budget would be used for replacement pieces and repairs.
Was thinking about this and thought I should share. Before I bought the Mini a friend and I decided it was a good chance to go car shopping. My friend suggested I look a a Golf GTI, it could be had in 4 door, was pretty small, has a nice engine, etc etc. I had an interesting experience, two in one day that were really…
This weekend I dove into the new to me Mini Cooper S.
2006 R53 Mini Cooper S, 79k miles, manual of course.
So my lease is going in a little under 2 months. I was looking at bmw 335xi’s and fiat 500 abarth, but I haven’t been awesome about saving and I started school so both of those have hit my budget quite a lot. I was hoping for about double what my current budget is. I’m now pretty comfortably out of the BMW E90…
Catching up, I’ve been working on my new fuel system.
On my last outing with NW oppo my fuel pump started acting up. I could audibly hear it getting louder and if run for more than 30 minutes or so it started to sound crunchy.
We had a cruise the other day, after a lot of stop and go getting to the destination, and some intermittent traffic during, my fuel pump decided to not do its job of continually delivering fuel.
Lease will be up and I will be looking for a new daily next year. The Z most likely won’t cut it for daily duties, and I’m kind of running down on motivation with it, maybe might sell it down the road (that will definitely push me towards something more sportier, but will have quite a larger budget as well).
For the next installment of the adventure....
There is something odd about taking a running project off the road. The R154 is stout by all means. With the achille’s heal addressed it supposedly can handle 800hp or so, but it has little problems like not wanting to go into reverse and being notchy as all hell. I got the short shifter to combat the fact that…
Having a printer is awesome. I was shopping around for knobs since it seems all the ones I have are too small or too big. Then I realized, I could just find a design and print it.
Having friends is great. Having friends with similar interests is better. Having friends with different interests may be the best.
I just got back, cleaned up and unpacked.
Goodness I’m so excited. Hopefully more motivation to do stuff to come shortly.
A pretty short notice trip, but I mentioned to a friend that one of my goals was to go camping in my Z. The goal was similar to James May’s Lotus in the Top Gear Caravan episode. To make the drive just as enjoyable as the stay. Blast to the camp site taking twisty roads, camp, have a good time, then blast home with…
I can’t really recall the last time I took a road trip with someone. At least of a measurable distance and time.
