To me, the difference is, The Last Jedi didn’t set out to be divisive. It didn’t set out to divide the fanbase or pick a side. It just wanted to try and tell a good story in the Star Wars universe.

I’m sure Filoni knows what happens next. The hook for the potential spin-off and maybe it’s end. But what happens 31 years after that series is another matter.

They went off to find Ezra in the Unknown Regions like 34 years before TROS. If you don’t find someone after three decades, it might be time to give up. They don’t want to be found. 

It does seem odd that the Child is so developmentally delayed despite being 1/18th through its natural lifespan. They clearly borked the math on that.
