This vampire thing won't stop until Betty White plays one. Then, if there are any survivors of this universe collapsing event, they can move on to other fads.

How much grant money do you suppose they got to conduct this research?

I'm reminded of the Patton Oswalt quote:

Lottery numbers and natural disasters. Everything else is, as Dr. Song would say, "spoilers."

Christmas!

Reed Richards is too absolutely disgusting.

Hmm, I wonder how the timers would affect drunken, one-night stands?

@n3onkn1ght: I knew what you meant, it's just that I read your comment in Yakov Smirnoff's voice and couldn't resist. :)

I think the purpose of the gene has to be so that the mice don't look like nerds, so that the lady mice will go to prom with them. You see, all of evolutionary biology can be explained in terms of high school.

I wonder if Maxwell solved a lot of physics questions with biblical quotes.

This made me think of the cyborg soldier/monster from Global Frequency for some reason. Being a cyborg would be cool, so long as it doesn't go too far.

Glad you posted this today, as I am off to the Great American Beerfest. Anyone else in Denver for it?

@BioLady: I don't doubt it. And judging by your name, you probably know more about it than I. I'll just go back to making my sacrifice to Zalgo so that the sun comes up tomorrow :)

@BioLady: Sure, but if they don't know those pathways, couldn't it be possible that it will develop some sort of side effect? Perhaps the methods by which it increases serotonin could also cause some sort of cancer down the road? The uncertainty just seems... strange for an industry like this.

I feel like Batman would be awful at baseball. I mean, I doubt that's what he was studying at a monastery in Tibet or wherever.

@SupaChupacabra: If Scorcese did a rhoomba movie, I would watch. I'll see this primarily because it is Fincher, even if it seems an odd choice.

@lilliputzian: Well, it doesn't quite ruin my day, but it makes me wonder how much they could know about long term side effects if they aren't sure what precisely is going on.

So, Doctors are basically now saying "Oh, shit, that worked?! Lucky guess, huh?" I mean, I'm not exactly anti-pharmaceuticals, but this revelation doesn't inspire a ton of confidence.
