Pizzolatto must just not be very good at the pulpy dialogue, because I think you're right on all counts. Season 1 didn't have this problem because it wasn't trying to be as pulpy.

It is a perfect analogy to this season in contrast to last season, though. We're following so many leads in this season, so the scene that was supposed to rival season 1 episode 4's amazing tracking shot scene had to be split to follow the three leads involved; Cohle's scene could be framed to follow Cohle the whole

The Hottentots are running amok!

Different reviewers.

As I've been watching this season, I've been keeping the overall season review in the back of my mind. I know Erik didn't write it, so I don't blame him, but I'm consistently annoyed that a whole season can be given a grade on here based on three episodes. This season's first three episodes aren't as strong as last

I must be a couple years older than Alex, because I basically had the same experience with Head Like a Hole. I think the order of videos that changed how I felt about music in this way went: Metallica - "One", NIN - "Head Like a Hole", and Tool - "Sober".

I haven't been this excited about E3 reveals in a long time. XCOM2 and Deus Ex: Mankind Divided are the two I would absolutely kill to play this weekend. I would have put No Man's Sky up there as well, but there was one comment near the end of their demo that disappointed me: no player interaction, like trading or

Might be worth it if we get a whole season of Tyrion and Varys ruling Meereen.

The Dothraki weren't following her after Khal Drogo went catatonic, only a handful of loyalists, so she has no sway with these Dothraki and they might not even know who she is. The little bit of commentary after the episode that I actually caught made it sound like she was leaving evidence that whoever came looking

Looks like the schedule has channels 1 and 2 swapped. Also, they tweeted 20 minutes ago that RTJ was going to be on soon, but Earth, Wind & Fire who are scheduled after RTJ are already on. So far pretty unimpressive, AVClub.

Even the shootout at the bank was unnecessary. They didn't need to "take them in the car" and block their exit. They could have simply tailed them with a couple unmarked cars, and engaged them when they reached their safehouse. McCauley and crew might even have inadvertently led them to Nate.

I was late on Mobb Deep, so I can't count him on my own personal nostalgia list. But yeah, great song.

Well, it wasn't The AVClub's list and it was specifically about alt-rock. We're just having fun compiling and reminiscing on some good hip hop/R&B.

I'm still remembering/finding other stuff that came out that year, so I can't disagree. For example: Skee-Lo - I Wish and Redman & Method Man - How High.

Oh yeah, The Notorious B.I.G. - Big Poppa was also '95.

Coolio - Gangsta's Paradise
LL Cool J - Doin' It

2pac feat. Dr. Dre - California Love
The Pharcyde - Drop

I'm not sure I listened to anything but Catherine Wheel's "Happy Days" in 1995. I recently saw some photos of me from then and I was clearly trying to look like Rob Dickinson.

And this knowledge, of course, makes me weirder than Jared.

Common mistake, Jared et al., but poppers are nitrites, not nitrates.
