@Michael Clayton Esq:disqus also — Iron Fist suffers from being what looks like three different shows someone wanted to do and can't really get a handle on which one to focus on.

You may be correct on that point. Techno-optimism is all very well, but I do think it's vital to recognize that technology doesn't exist in a vacuum. One can look at the history of electronics design in the US and Japan as good examples of how culture changes the way we build. It's not better or worse, just different.

Did they have some kind of menage going on? Back in s1 I got the impression she got off on watching gay dudes, and while I won't judge anyone's preferences, the photo-taking (without even telling them) was NOT ok.

I am betting the Head Teacher in Red is from UNIT or something. Given how well-informed she is, and she bleeds (so she's human, I bet). Given the propensity of other Doctor Who spinoffs to hew closely to the source material, that's my guess.

Yeah I'll still watch but Joe West keeping any secrets from his girlfriend is just stupid. He works in PUBLICLY ANNOUNCED META DEPARTMENT. Ye gods.

Late to it, but yeah. Iron Fist could have gone a long way with some nods to its origin (even as Luke Cage did so, by acknowledging those origins and updating them in really interesting ways).

OK, Barry, you can't just say "I'm the f-ing Flash" when you save Patty and take off the mask? Not hard, dude.

This. It was lazy writing, I thought.

OK I'm a-gonna do some physics-ing again.

One thing that got to me was the idea that some places were spared, or not. It's kind of a big logic hole.

When I saw the first ep and the goat get sacrificed, I have to admit my thought was "Are they going to waste that? Because that's some good food there you're throwing away, and it's even kosher."

Salem? :-)

It's GONE????

Yeah I haven't read it but when I was in high school — when Billy was at the height of his power — not one person I knew thought Billy' "I don't know anything" line was true.

Jordan Marsh — holy hell I remember those damned Christmas ads. I just realized that and Bradlees would make zero sense to an "outsider." I tried explaining to my wife some of the things I chuckled at in the film and it was weird. Like the fact that the abandoned building was supposed to be on Washington Street, which

apropos of @avclub-b3d29f8f22c60a4b2c5fc2b1691c1d62:disqus et al: the class component is something I grew up with in spades on the North Shore. There are a lot of very expensive private schools in the area and you hear some kids from "old money" who sounded different from the "upstarts" from Revere who were largely

I never really watched the Seventh, so I can't speak to it — I only saw a bit of the curse of Fenric.
