Also, when doing a research paper wikipedia is a big help. You can't use the article as a source, but you can just scroll the bottom and find the sources used for the article. Wikipedia already does all the research for you, they even give you links to the sources.

I use wikipedia as cliff/spark notes for stuff I'm reading for school. I never read the wiki entry instead of the book, because they can be unreliable or odd in their interpretation, but if I'm reading Sophocles and having a hard time following it, reading the wikipedia article is a tremendous help.

I'm currently taking calc and using a TI-83. Others are getting by with a basic TI scientific calculator. Graphing helps, but unless you're doing statistics (which I probably am :() you don't need a TI-89 or anything.
