Not to mention there's not much reason to own a PS4, and it won't even let you play your old PSN stuff for PS3 (of which I still have a massive backlog).

Blah. And now when it sucks and no one buys it, they'll say, "See? They don't like Dragon Quest" and will never release anything ever again.
This RPG looks like it has a really shitty combat system.
That's a shame, because I'd actually like a Mystic Quest remake. Not much of a game, but it was fun, and it has one of the best soundtracks in gaming history.
Yeah, that's the most amazing aspect of it, that it was just a bizarre accident.
Aside from that, just taken at face value, it seems to me like most people would consider Majora's Mask a noble pursuit to save others and Link's Awakening a desperate pursuit to save himself (at the expense of a large group of being who may or may not exist).
Seriously though, you guys are 6 years younger than me, and I had the same reaction. And how in the heck were you guys beating FFVI 6 years young than me? I was 12 or 13 when FFVI came out—you guys were 6 or 7!
Maybe that's your interpretation of Link's Awakening. My interpretation is one of meaninglessness and oblivion. :) At least in Majora's Mask, we're saving the people, not consigning them to non-existence.
27! We got darn kids running this site. I had the same experience, though, and I'm 33, so I guess if you were 12 at the time, I must have been 18 (!), and I still felt the same way as you, stressed out because I appreciated a slow, methodical approach (i.e. FFVI and others you mentioned), and I couldn't figure out…
Pretty crazy... I guess I tend to think of stuff as a "closed system" whereby you can't really enter in anything new. But it sounds like he's somehow able to enter "new" things into the code via the character names and get the program to glitch and trigger event flags?
What's amazing is that the program/CPU pay any attention at all to stuff entered as character names. You'd think it wouldn't work like that...?
Weird! It's amazing that works.
Yeah, it looks more like a DS game rather than a 3DS game... I am a big fan of the SaGa games, mostly for nostalgia value, but I agree, this looks even clunkier than the three Game Boy SaGas originally were...
I sort of hope this doesn't come out in English after reading this. Unless it would sell a lot, which would be cool, but I doubt it would. I just hate it when stuff no one wants gets localized, no one buys it, and then they say, "No one buys localized JRPGs" and use that as an excuse to not release Dragon Quest.
Can someone explain to me exactly what he's doing? Yes, I read it, but I didn't really get what the point was, and there's no way I'm going to watch an hour-long video of him walking up and down stairs.
Mike, you look badass!!!! Keep the beard like that! I also appreciate you being one of the 3-4 people left in game journalism who is not 23 years old.
Nintendo also has shitty consumer service at the moment because they don't have enough employees. :( Have you got it sorted out yet? I got an e-mail from them (I inquired about it just for my own knowledge) which said they'll only do it over the phone. I know that doesn't meant they won't do it in chat, though,…
The first 3 minutes of that video felt like 30. I zoned out and gave up. I ain't so good at scienze.
Well if he just replied with "/", I for one would have had no idea what he meant.
Keep us updated though. I'm super curious and hope it works for you!
