Down, boy!
Down, boy!
Have you played Divine Divinity? That's a good one. A little lower-key as far as the humor, but good writing. It was meant to be a turn-based kind of deeper thing, but it ended up becoming a new version of Diablo basically.
You can import mine from the NES version of Bard's Tale 3.
Awesome acting and writing, but the game itself is kind of lame.
You didn't know this until now! Yeah, pretty exciting.
There is another series of games that are kind of like the Bard's Tale action-RPG. They're called Diablo. (hehehe I'm so funny)
The humor is kind of fun, but yeah, the game itself is sort of not that compelling.
One could assert that Baldur's Gate 1 and 2 were already crappy top-down action games, oh-ho!!
I know what you mean, though. They all became junky Diablo-likes, but that's because Diablo was popular. And BG 1 and 2 had real-time combat because Warcraft 2 was popular.
That's because 1-3 came out in the '80s. They were even before my time, and I'm old!
What is your game like? Anywhere I can go to look at it?
That's really sad.
That's how Bard's Tale 1-3 were, right? Same as how you describe Mars Saga? (That's about how Dragon Quest 2-9 work, too.)
Okay, I'm back with a better answer. Wasteland 2 has tactical turn-based combat, sort of like Fallout 1 and 2. Bard's Tale 3 (and I'm assuming 1 and 2) have fairly standard turn-based combat where you choose everyone's moves at the beginning, then it all gets carried out (like Dragon Quest). I'm assuming Wasteland…
I think Wasteland 2 is pretty standard turn-based fare, but I'm not familiar with the combat of the original Bard's Tale games (1-3). Guess I need to do some research!
Well, it's fair enough to think one is more fun than the other. Everyone's entitled to that. I agree the Torment thing is a little odd. I suppose they wanted to make it turn-based in the first place but never could? That's what the deal was with Divinity: OS, but of course that was announced as turn-based from the…
Most of these are way better than the actual one.
I was wondering about that. I think if it were done like Frozen Synapse, it would be massive chaos and not fun. I don't know what the combat was like in Bard's Tale 1-3, but I was assuming it was first-person and turn-based, similar to the first few Might and Magic games and Wizardy, for instance.
I hope you're right! I think that would be pretty darn fun and interesting. Of course there are games designed around the concept, like Frozen Synapse. I can't imagine that in an RPG, though. It would turn into massive chaos. I don't imagine that is what they'd be going for here though. I want to pledge! Come…
I think Neverwinter Nights 2 was the game that really killed RTwP for me, although I never liked it in Baldur's Gate either. It just felt like Warcraft 2 with RPG stuff thrown in, not D&D.
The only thing I wanted was Patapon 3, which costs $14.99 still but should cost about $4.99...
