The comment was an explanation of the use of snake imagery. Also she wasn’t bringing up the narrative, she brought up the fall out from it. Does everyone lack nuance these days?

He also very recently gave an interview with Charlamagne Tha God where he blamed her for being part of the reason his last album didn’t get radio time and he had a breakdown. This was about a week ago. Maybe she’s addressing it now because he decided to bring it up again.

Kanye wouldn’t shut up about it for years. He launched the narrative in the first place, went on TV show after TV show talking about it (she mentioned it once on TV, if at all). They all grew up—she even introduced him at the VMAs seven years later. Then he had to put his giant foot in his mouth again with “Famous.”

I think the reality is, Kanye told her about part of the song, not the whole thing (and the phone calls seem to confirm this), he didn’t necessarily do that intentionally to mislead her, but she felt mislead and reacted. I think Kim missed the nuance of Taylor being ok with some of it, but not all of it, and felt like

Funny, most autistic people I know say that the biggest cause of their suffering is how society treats them, not the autism itself. Of course, when autistic people talk I actually listen to them.

We really need to emphasize this point. What they’re doing is basically advocating eugenics. You know who* else was really big on eugenics?

Then, you really shouldn’t have a child. They are unpredictable.

As someone who’s son was stillborn, people who don’t give their children the best medical treatment possible enrages me to a point I didn’t realize I could reach. You’re lucky enough to have a child that’s alive and you chose to ignore all the medical knowledge that’s out there? If you didn’t get medical training, you

“In an ideal world the scientist should find a method to prevent the most severe forms of autism but allow the milder forms to survive. After all, the really social people did not invent the first stone spear. It was probably invented by an Aspie who chipped away at rocks while the other people socialized around the

you don’t know that what you are seeing is suffering—an autistic child may rock violently when they are filled with excitement and happiness, and to you it looks like they are unhappy because you don’t understand what they are feeling.

autism is not suffering—i think it is harder most of the time for the parents to accept that their child isn’t “perfect” in the way they wanted them to be than for the child to accept being different. most of these parents who go on about how their child was “stolen” from them by autism are narcissists who lack the

Maybe you should actually ASK an autistic person if they are suffering, instead of making assumptions about what goes on in their brains?

I have ASD/autism as well as ADHD and severe anxiety. I graduated with a BA, I have a well-paying job, a boyfriend of two years, a three year old dog that I raised from when she was 10 weeks old, and my own apartment.

I’ve told this one here before but my brother (who has mild autism and is my right hand whom I would be lost without) overheard a woman say autism was worse he spoke up and said: “I have autism, you think it’s better for me to be dead than a little different?”

Ah, I see, you are simply a less-than-swift asshole.

Fuck off, you said you “would rather bed dead.” Those are your exact words. Pointing out that you are welcome to make that decision for yourself but that no one can make it for someone else has nothing to do with not understanding your apparently highly literate, complicated comment.

Ok, you can make the decision to off yourself whenever you want. You cannot, however, make that decision for someone else, no matter if that other person is your child or not. Pretty simple.

You’re terrifying. And WRONG. Autism is NOT a fate worse than death, and to imply that is incredibly insulting to autistic people.

I think they meant “liable?” As in, if their children drop dead of a particularly nasty strain of measles they don’t want to get in trouble, I guess.
