There is a lot of automation in the new carriers, more than has been seen in any vessel til now. This is to keep crew numbers to a minimum. How this will work in practice remains to be seen.

Except that’s what it takes to win a world war. You have to play dirty. All sides were dirty, even the USA. Your post still doesn’t make the Soviets off the hook for what they did to German Civilians, by the way. USA was bombing those places to win a war. If the Brits had the airpower they would be too. They knew what

How did they come up with that price? There is not a part worth more than 5¢ in this.

Even when flying safely, it’s not that great of an aircraft. It does one thing really well, it takes off from a very short runway. That’s it. It isn’t a great dog fighter, it doesn’t carry a large payload, it doesn’t do ACM well, it isn’t stealthy (obviously). Too many design compromises to make it VTOL.

Not bad at all. What is amazing is that a kingdom of only about 14,000,000 people built the greatest empire in human history and kept it for several hundred years. The “decline” of G.B. today is only in comparison to the truly odd heights the nation was able to reach in the 18th and 19th centuries.

Hilariously enough, even if they did surrender because of the threat of Russian invasion then the bombings were still a good idea if only because they deterred Russia from doing so and saved the surviving Japanese population from decades under Stalinist rule.

Those civilian areas were manufacturing more military equipment for the Nazi war effort. Besides, there was no such thing as a smart bomb back then.

Honestly, they did try. The initial bombing strategy for the RAF and US Army Air Force was predicated upon precision strikes on military targets. It was a resounding failure, and they switched to the carpet bombing strategy out of necessity.

I know nothing about military hardware, but I remember stories about every plane I’ve ever heard of for our military where the cost was outrageous, the thing didn’t work, it was never going to work, the pilots hated it, the crew laughed at it and on and on. The B1, that swing wing thing in Viet Nam, the Osprey and on

MR2 and R1 had reached the end of their lives for sure. But MRA4 could never have been given a military airworthiness certificate. Which means it could never enter operational service (for some pretty good reasons as well, particularly as the new regime was brought in as a result of the Kandahar crash). What should

I know ... Unfortunately.

Well that’s the thing about starting a fight. You might find yourself getting your ass handed to you in a way and to a degree that you never thought possible. But in the end you’ve no one to blame but yourself.

Don’t start fights.

The F-35 isn’t crappy...it is FAR superior in its role to anything else out there...

Life isn’t built for ‘Mericans.

Obviously not built for ‘Mericans

Wartburg 353: Like a Trabant, but without any of the associated charm.

Did we forget Torch in the Hoffman? That was German, right?

This makes me sad.

But then the evil organization COBRA got their hands on the plans and made these!

Whoa! Who flew the yellow one?
