It takes about 18 to 20 years from contract to in service for all the post Cold War fighters so they have to start now.

So much this....the uk wanted tsr2 settled for f-111 and ended up with a modified phantom at triple the cost. The other major problem is not funding updates when needed.

The DOD hasn’t even defined the six gen requirements yet that’s going to be in 2017 so I can’t see this being anything more than marketing. If the budget holds up the plan is to select the f-xx in the 2021 to 2023 time frame. IOC around 2033-36 or so.

The 1760 planned will replace everything except the strike eagle one for one. The navy will need to replace the super with a six gen plane in the 2030s though I could see an improved 35 replacing the SH as well.

Radar is governed by physical laws, those laws make detecting a stealth plane not something that a lot of money or work just makes it happen. With that said as time goes on detection ability will Improve but that’s when your really glad you have stealth so you still are harder to track than non stealth. It’s telling

The 35 has more range than anything but the strike eagle... More than all other us fighters including the raptor. It again carries 5,000 internal which is as much or more than a 16,18, typhoon, Rafale, mig-29, Gripen, etc. it can carry 16 sdb or two 2,500 pound class weapons. It carries more fuel than a 16 with bags

One was “going ballistic" which means departing controlled flight not going fast.

Fuel, oil, hydraulics, flight controls, and airframe strength. We’re not optimized for inverted or worse negative g forces in the 14 or most planes of the era. The blue angels modify these systems to allow safe flight they also don’t wear g suits because they are flying so close they can’t have the suit cause any

Prototypes tend to use of the shelf proven tech that would be replaced in production.

You may be thinking of lockheeds HAVE BLUE which led to the 117.

I got to sit in a blackbird cockpit at Edwards Air Force base in the 1980s because my step father worked in lockheeds skunk works in Burbank and in Palmdale. I bought the f-19 testers model stealth plane and all he would say about it is he had never seen it before. Also I was there as a guest of the USAF when the 117

Incomplete combustion... Low oxygen

Why... If you have had GM cars in the past they are so much better now. This is the golden age of the domestic automobile.

Only two pics... Since you mentioned Putin here he is doing his best Dear Leader flying a plane bullshit.
