I have this theory: as Buffy was winding down, SMG desperately wanted to walk away from the character (remember the animated series that was supposed to happen? She was the only cast member not recording VO) and move on to what she expected to be a big movie career, and likely wouldn't return Whedon's phone calls

No, but journalistic integrity blah blah blah. I mean what if we saw a decent review given to something that is kind of verifiable shit and there were ads for it plastered all over the place? I recognize the reality of the internet marketplace, but it still feels weird.

Lots of ads for The Nightly Show all over this review of The Nightly Show.

A white sniper, no less!

That's pretty spot on. I mean pretty much every character other than Cooper's ends up saying "fuck this war" in one way or another, and it pretty mildly questions the necessity of the Iraq war. Now the thing it didn't do was show why Kyle kept pressing on when everyone wanted him home. Of course the answer in real

Yeah, the stuff that gets co-opted—shit, American Sniper, for the problem of it's surface-level analysis of the complexities of Kyle's obvious PTSD and hero complex, at least mildly questions the necessity of the Iraq war—baffles me sometimes. It's like these "real Americans" only see a modern soldier and they can't

Wait, why is it "safe to assume" the Kool Aid is is blood?

To me the movie felt abandoned, complete with shitty ADR and music cues that dropped out of nowhere.

Man, it's too late. This movie has been claimed as a victory by the far right.

Reportedly that's what made RDJ stick around after The Judge bombed. Hard to turn down a guaranteed fortune to star in middling dramas.

Yeah, that's all it ever really seems to boil down to. I've asked my friend to explain his hate, and he nitpicks "why wouldn't they be able to ice skate in upstate New York" and other bullshit about the Juggernaut stealing the internet parody's line, but overall it seems people just WANT to hate it.

I actually like all the X-Movies in their own way. Liev Schrieber makes a pretty great Sabretooth in Origins.

I think the newsworthiness is more so that it's accurate rather than it being Rogen

Agreed

Why would you not call him Dr. Benny Strangebatch?

I stand alone, I suppose, in not hating The Last Stand, or really even understanding the hate. Especially since X-Men Origins: Wolverine is way, way worse.

Man, that sweater.

"You better run, egg!"

Just the TIP is fine
