Streaming video isn’t actually that demanding, thanks to better compression and local caching at the ISP - in the end, they came up with solutions to make the problem less of a problem, at least on the ISP level.

Netflix is a small fry compared to MS, Amazon, and Google. Once they start seeing that ISPs are the reason that people aren’t giving them money, then the proverbial s**t will roll downhill, probably starting with pressure/money put into state governments to get caps made illegal.
That’s the biggest issue, but it’s also going to force ISPs to stop putting caps on bandwidth. There’s really no reason for it other than being a way to cheap out on equipment, as there’s no actual equivalent to that metric in the business connectivity world - your ISP can run their upstream pipe at 100% capacity 24/7…
Now you just need to get stainless steel lids for everything, and you might actually make an impact.

You remap the most annoying button to press. On PS controllers it’s LR3, on Xbox ones, I remap the stick presses to the paddles. Once you get used to it, they make a huge difference.
Both the PS5 and XBSX are basically just new versions of the last gen. They are backwards compatible because the hardware is essentially just a faster version of the same thing, much like the PS4 Pro and XBOneX were.
Absolutely agree. While it was very “Assassin’s Creed-y”, so were most other games this last decade. The difference with Mad Max was that it felt *right* to have those elements in the game, and they just served as a way to get you through what ended up being a good (not great) story that was just long enough to get…
My problem with DA2 was the repetitiveness. It felt like you went to the same half dozen maps over and over again for most of the game - and in a genre where exploration is key, that was a huge letdown. While I agree about the characters (and love that some made it into Inquistion), in the end I was just bored with it.…
“Paid public beta” is a thing that should never exist - GeForce Now has been in free beta for years now, making sure it works right before they start charging, and if they can afford to do that, Google could absolutely afford to as well. It feels shady, but that’s par for the course from Google lately.
You forgot to include customers in that list along with employees, but you are correct. You get started by treating everyone well so you can draw in talent, but to get Apple and MS levels of success you eventually give up on caring about everything except stock dividends. This eventually leads to having fewer…
Yeah, it’s composed of the CyberTruck, the Mach-E, and a bunch of cars that are exactly the same as they were every other year for a decade. It’s not exciting auto news when Ford announces they changed the curves on the F-150 slightly, put in a new sound system and introduced another color that nobody will buy because…
You mean the Ridgeline, I assume. I didn’t say they invented it, but they are implementing it in a very different way. The Ridgeline still wastes a lot of metal emulating a traditional frame vehicle - there are plenty of pictures of the design online to show that it’s still very much a traditional truck, with the…
Depends on whether the sheer amount of hype this generates gets their attention, I would think. If they really care about the functionality of their truck rather than the intimidation/overcompensation factor that so many truck owners use to make their decision, Tesla will not immediately be crossed off their list.
While range anxiety is a real thing, the whole “getting stranded with a dead truck” thing is way overplayed. You need to plan for range on every vehicle, not just electric ones, and just like gas vehicles there are options for charging in the middle of nowhere, such as bringing along a small generator in the bed. Not…
Yeah, but there are other reasons. Honda just isn’t a brand people think of when they go buy a truck is the biggest one. :P
It’s a custom alloy they created for their rockets, so no chance you will find it out on the general market.
The bed of the truck is still the same shape as any other truck, so unless you are side loading something the functionality of it being a truck is the same as any other.
I think you missed the part about why the metal is so thick - the truck doesn’t sit on a frame, the sides ARE the frame. That’s actually pretty brilliant if it works, since they aren’t wrong about the frame being one of the heaviest parts of any given vehicle, and serving no real purpose except to hold everything else…
That’s the thing about universal income, it’s not supposed to be $1000 a month, it’s supposed to be enough to cover food, rent, and utilities based on an average for where you are. As the area becomes more prosperous, the value goes up, and if it takes a turn, it goes down. Basically it’s designed to free people up to…
Yep, exactly. So the non-union people would be unable to work on the game if they hired Troy under the union rules. While getting your SAG card isn’t super difficult, like any union it isn’t an easy thing unless you have an “in”, and being known for scabbing or working for non-union shops isn’t going to make it…
