Don't come in here with your reasoned responses.

What about those of us who absolutely hate these characters and wish them never to find love? What about Bruce Baldwin (Ralph Bellamy), who did nothing besides just love this fast-talking woman and try to make her happy?

Damn you and your reasoned responses.

Am I chomping crazy pills here??! Housebound was mediocre dreck really trying hard to be a Shaun of the Dead ghost story.

I wish I could upvote this 10 times.

Yeah - I really did. I stupidly watched it at dusk by myself in my home. It was a rough few hours there - nothing a little alcohol, GTA 5, and MST3K couldn't fix, but still. That's some scary shit, yo.

I just wanted to give you a quick update - I went and rented Lake Mungo, and it was fantastic; it's truly one of the great ghost stories put to film, in my opinion. However, I am not 100% sold on it as a found footage film…it's more faux-documentary with elements of found footage in it. That doesn't detract from the

I remember watching that with a couple of friends right after it came out on video and they laughed at me the whole time as I cowered behind their couch cushions.

Boy I REALLY didn't try that hard, did I?

How did you see Lake Mungo? I've been looking for it (admittedly not that hard), and I am really interested in seeing it.

Zero Day - it's hard to sit through even without the current stories of gun violence (some could even argue it's a how-to for school shootings), but it was extremely well-done and effective.

I wish I could share your sentiment on Goodnight Mommy - but I can't. Personally, it was unfocused (oddly enough, given the cinematography and amount of characters) and sadly predictable from frame 2.

It had a fantastic atmosphere. That opening scene was brilliant - and deserves to be compared to Carpenter. The rest of the film, not so much.

I reviewed this movie on a podcast I was on, and I was the lone dissenter. I gave it a 4 / 10 - mainly due to the reasons most people dislike the film: poor script, bland characters, etc. But what really got me at the time was the constant call-backs to Jurassic Park. And, as evidenced by this cut, not just

Oh, my apologies. I just like to throw out random drugs as answers to all questions.

Cocaine.

I second this. I loved what they did with the film. I could argue that nobody REALLY looked like they were from the 80s, but hot damn if this film didn't try anyway. It felt like it wore its earnestness on its sleeve, and I really appreciated that about it.

Go in expecting a gothic romance and not a horror, and you shouldn't be let down. The acting ranges from good to great, and it's a del Toro film, so the violence is random and extreme. The setting is perfect for his style. Great film. Top 5 of the year? I don't think so - but it's definitely up there.
