The safety portion, and the fact that they are much easier to work on is why I like discs more.

I never owned a car with drums long enough to do any sort of R&R work on it, about how long do drum brakes last, on say a daily driver?

Ahh, well I didn't know that thing about drums needing adjustment, I've only owned 1 car with drum brakes and I only had it about 6 months, and while there wasn't a world of change, it's always felt like discs were better stopping for me then drums, but that's probably because my drums needed adjustment.

Well, you've got me there.

But, rear discs are so much easier to work on. See, I like to maximize my laziness, and discs allow me to do that.

I think it's because for me, all of the cars I own have rear discs, so that's just what I am used to. When I had my Honda (a 1986 Accord), the biggest thing with that car, was people trying to find an Accord SE-i so they could grab the rear brakes and do a brake conversion over to discs.

True, I had an old Honda I just got rid of, and it had some drums in the back, it wasn't a huge world of difference, and I do love the fact that drum brakes are essentially sealed off from the elements, so you don't have to really worry about contamination. My only thing is, I live in the D.C. area, so I have to do a

I know, but still, it just is crazy to me that drum brakes are standard on some cars made today, they are getting so cheap. I had an old Honda (I know not a Toyota like what I posted but stick with me), and I'm sure when it came out the rotors were a lot more expensive then the drum brakes, but these days, on rock

Nothing wrong with drums, but discs are better at stopping than drums are. So it would make sense to have those standard, on the link I put, they are only standard on the Corolla S. It just seems strange to me. I know drums are cheaper and all, but disc brakes are getting pretty cheap as well.

Even more heinous, some cars today still don't come with rear disc brakes standard.

The best sport seats you can get in the car, I've actually stopped looking at certain cars in the past because I couldn't get them with really good sport seats. If I don't feel like I'm being sucked into the car, than I'm not happy.

I know you were messing around, was trying to keep the tone but I was tired as hell last night so didn't come across as I would have liked.

Sorry if how I typed it rubbed you the wrong way, for some strange reason.

Well, our most recent governor's trial just started for corruption, so I would definitely agree with you that rational behavior and laws are not at the top of the priority list.

There is this thing called driving too fast for conditions. Rain storms on the I-95 can get so bad that you can't even see the lane dividers, I would know I drive it every day. Even going the speed limit in a bad rainstorm on the I-95 is a bad idea.

The usual stuff, get fluids changed, everything inspected. Pack in only what I would need, so a couple changes of clothes just in case, lots of food, a few gallons of water in case I get stranded, small amount of hand tools (that include the most common sizes for the car I'm driving), bailing wire, duct tape, and of

So it was pretty much Germany's version of the Cavalier?

I would love to know the thought process behind making a Caliber an SRT vehicle. "Hey, you know that really shitty car that probably won't last long, what is it...the cartridge...no...the caliber! Yeah, let's make that an SRT. What could go wrong?"
