The “complexity” is self-inflicted, though. More often than not, the issue is just IT crew that are not really that good at their jobs, or the entire team is 1-2 people trying to manage 100's to 1000's of machines.

The only reason we even use “master” is because.. we use it. They could name it with other words from the thesaurus and it would be fine.

To be fair, manifesto seems to be reserved for things like this, but it can really be anything. I mean, agile development was written as a manifesto.
