Yes, it was the premiere of season four - not the one I was thinking. Mea culpa!

Certainly Justified's stand alone stories weren't filler - but they are only related to the overarching plot in the most tangential sense. Great episodes of Justified like "Long in the Tooth," "The Collection," and "Hole in the Wall," told their own stories, although they contained a modicum of the season arc as well.

An "Incomplete"

I'm really looking forward to seeing it on the show. The primary image I have associated with the costume is the one above next to the show title, where Murdock looks… a little dumbfounded, maybe? Not a great look.

My example of one of the best shows that also had "case of the week" episodes was Justified. You had about the same length of season, but the show took time to tell some unrelated stories (even as the larger arc progressed). It gave the characters time to breathe, and actually felt less like filler than several

This is literally the same thing that happened to me - That very headline popped up on my Google Now alerts! It's the main reason I waited until today to watch it.

The joke certainly had a chili reception.

This isn't the most topical reference, but did you feel like Gosling's banter was ripped straight from an episode of Psych? Seemed very Sean-like.

That is what he said. Who talks like that?

I would buy robbing a future bank from Heatwave, who isn't known for his critical thinking - but you would have expected Cold would come up with something a little more clever, like grabbing a sports almanac or something.

More of a caucus, then? That would have been topical!

Her calling Mulder down to Texas just because she was jealous Scully was working with Miller seemed excessively petulant.

Agreed - There was virtually no twist or reversal in the cold open, or at all. I was 100% sure that the two were going to be patsies for some ulterior plot, but … nope!

I really agree - Superman missing could have easily been the impetus for Kara's decision to become Supergirl as well as a plot point (if necessary).

I didn't expect it right then, but you had to know another group was going to pop up when Bellamy's voiceover in the intro talked about "… and searching for other survivors…" or some such thing. I need to just stop watching those!
