So, how important is the length of a domain these days? I registered my [FirstandLastname.com] a while ago, but my first name has eight letters, and my last name a whopping 11 letters. That makes for a long URL, which could easily be mistyped.

@Unionhawk: I guess mine's working now, but it took me a while to realize, because I thought the google logo on the homepage is supposed to look different too? But it's not for me. Just the search results.
@Unionhawk: Me either.
@bonedog73: As the article says, one way it's useful is for dropbox. Since your dropbox folder can only be in one place, creating a symlink allows you to have stuff outside that folder still syncing. Stuff like application settings, such as a Pidgin profile.
@Condalmo: Yeah, while scanning through, it's hard to pick out the non-iPod/iPhone stuff. I vote for a separate category. "Free iPod/iPhone/iPad Stuff!"
@MrCheatachu: Definitely. When I upgraded from Vista to 7 on my laptop, I wondered if there was a difference in battery consumption. Might have just been me, as I haven't really done any benchmarking to be sure.
@Ignignokt: That was very well put together.

Yay, Friday!
Looks like we lifehackered Adam Banks' website.
Using the same exact tabs in each, I actually got Chrome using more memory than Firefox. Chrome had been open for a while, though (although I closed it first), so that could be why.

@gMan: Seconded. Comedy Central's player is horrible.
@atomic.resistance: I only played twice, but I'm not that good at it. First was 8.18, and then I only improved slightly the second time, with 7.97.
I'm looking for a way to automate editing my hosts file. I want to use it to block certain time wasting sites during the day until after a certain time in the evening. I was thinking maybe AutoHotKey could probably do this, although I haven't ever worked with that. I've had programming experience, though, so I might…
Nothing on facebook's big news? Not exactly lifehacker-related news, but then, that's why it would go here.
I don't use the snooze button. I have a worse habit, though. I've gotten better the last couple of years, and usually just get up right away, but I used to just turn the alarm right off, planning on getting up in a few minutes, on my own. Didn't work too well.
