@Cochese 2.0: Yes, that's why when Gawker had its user database hacked, all those people who use Facebook Connect to comment got their Facebook accounts compromised.

@Totenglocke42: This certificate can easily be stolen and that makes it MUCH weaker than the current system. Right now, most people don't have a cert so no one writes exploits to steal them. However, if this comes to be, there will be exploits galore to steal certs because then it will give easy access to your bank

@whootowl: Direct democracy is a terrifying prospect. As bad as demagogues are, at least they're also usually hypocrites.

@khil1: You completely miss my analogy about being a stubborn mule. If the government tells you that your local water has been contaminated by E. Coli and you should boil your water, are you going to say: 'It's the government, I don't trust them, I'm going to drink this water straight to stick it to the man?'

@poorleno: Indeed. And I'm also right most of the time. I accomplish this wondrous thing by using my brain and not jumping to conclusions or making kneejerk reactions.

@Totenglocke42: Government exists. Government has existed for a long time. And until there is some radical change in human society, government will continue to exist. If all you do is turn off your brain, dig in your heels and fight everything the government does like a stubborn mule, you'll have about as much success

@Odin: Indeed. This sounds like a government supported push to an OpenID-like system. From what I've read, it sounds like a genuinely good idea.

@MegaShark: You should take your tinfoil hat and go home. Odin isn't even American.

It sounds like a government backed and encourage OpenID system. Which honestly sounds like a good idea.

@Whitson Gordon: And how is that significantly different from my statement? The reason they're unbelievably successful is because the majority are either ignorant of the issues, or putting up with it.

@Whitson Gordon: The only reason Apple will never change is people say 'Apple will never change,' then just put up with it. So why should they change? You aren't giving them any incentive to.

@Whitson Gordon: It doesn't seem to make sense that because of his interpretation of the GPL, that VLC—which was a free app that was available to anyone that wanted it on iOS—should be pulled from the store, thus making it not available.

@m57: He did.

Ah, neat. It's a mechanical integrator.

I was going to vote for perspective.

@Salty Johnson: I'm not entirely certain what your point is.

@Salty Johnson: Well it's not meritless in theory. Microwave radiation incident on human tissue will induce some local heating. That's why there are specific absorption rate (SAR) requirements that cell-phones have to meet.

You skipped holography. Kind of a biggy.
