I got a whiff of "there are no easy solutions" (the absence of Kyle's appeal to logic speeches) in the things that are being mocked this season. When I saw the series, the City Hunter vibe was way too similar to not be intentional. If you're trying to capture a stylized look that screams 80s, what better way than a nearly seamless hybrid of Tsukasa Hojo and Patrick Nagel.

The folks mourning the end of Saturday morning network cartoons aren't the kids.

The reviewer also missed the whole death of Saturday morning network cartoons (and the interesting observation it was the adults—not the kids—who were making a huge deal about it).
Seconding DC11's opinion that this season is on fire.
