I feel like, from Alison's viewpoint anyway, that she was planning on taking the job, but hadn't ironed out the details…. Maybe she was thinking she would be in NJ half of the week, (Cole's time with Joanie) and be back in Montauk for her time with Joanie.

I agree that they are codependent, but we never got to experience them before Gabriel's death. That was what eventually tore them apart. They never stopped loving each other, but they can never be the way they used to be either.

I always have to start by saying that I don't really find any of these characters as being loveable. (except maybe Cole…) They are all very flawed/ damaged individuals.
