Yeah the space is for sure a huge factor. In the other cities there just is nowhere to go, effectively putting a cap on housing stock (kind of BS because of constant development, but the sprawl is relatively limited, sort of, in a way).

I think in Aus they have some public funding but not all, and it might vary by state as well. Several good friends of mine are teachers in Australia, funnily enough. Anyway,Canada is a pretty different system.

This is a great article but a correction. Catholic schools in Canada are not publicly funded. Just like the US every province is different. In the Yukon they apparently are funded, elsewhere they're not. Not to be pedantic but it's a big difference. (Actually I thought it was only Ontario, but I'm looking it up now.)
