I think she just misread. When I first read your point I thought holy Hannah calm down, but then realised you were being perfectly polite and interested. Stupid internet!!!1111
The BBC is far from the only tv channel, that's a ridiculous statement. But other than that your point is very valid.
No problem! I'm a 20 min drive - definitely do know the right name! Stupid phone keeps messing up names of bloody everything.
He corrected his post - the title said City of London.
Glad to help! If you had more time I'd also recommend walking along the Regent's Canal (or doing it by canal boat). In fact I might even recommend that first. It's wonderful in the summer.
Ack yes, thank you! Typing on phone and spelled it wrong...must wear glasses while internetting in future.
Glad to help. The listing process is fairly rigorous, and people like me are also agitating for more modern buildings to be listed and preserved as well, like the Preston Bus Station. The City had a lot of junk development in the early 80s and a lot of that is what has been torn down for more interesting projects.
Hey that's great, I've never seen it before!
It's worth spending some effort to see things, and not just the tourist spots, as fascinating as they are. There are so many nooks and crannies inside the M25 that it's a goldmine.
I highly recommend looking into the Thames Path, or alternatively taking a Thames Clipper (or one of the other boats) to see how the city changes as you go along the river.
Not really. They've done a good job preserving city walls and ruins and very old churches, etc. Other than that they're planting skyscrapers in available spaces or places occupied by modern or otherwise un-architecturally-important buildings. Overall the UK has a fairly robust system of building preservation.
Seriously, I read that and laughed. If you live west of London you get on the M4 and boom you're there. NW of London, M40 to the M25 and boom you're there. SW, M3 to the M25 and boom...you get the point. Across London? Well you just get to Paddington and direct train.
Just a correction, Mark. This isn't the City of London. This is just London. The City of London is the square mile in central/east that is the historic Roman city, a tiny tiny part of greater London, which is what is shown here.
Gwyneth Paltrow took to her Goop site and wrote a post entitled "Ending the Mommy Wars," which is the Internet equivalent of bathing oneself in honey and then swatting at a beehive. Godspeed, Gwyneth.
Nooooo not south ken, good lord. haha But still walkable!
THAT COLOUR <3
I heartily encourage you to go to the West Country if you're ever in the UK and sample the many and various local, traditional ciders (mostly apple or pear). They will knock your socks off and probably incapacitate you. mmmmmmmm.
Whoa I had no idea.
I love the room built between buildings!
