It's kind of in that vein, but it's very focused. It's really just people throwing out jokes for half an hour, but they get great people for it. I suppose it's similar to Mock the Week in terms of some of the games. Very disposable but reliably funny.

Yeah, she secured three spots for South Korean figure skaters in the Olympics, which no one else could have done.

That was the best moment of the Olympics for me. After that short program, knowing there was basically no way for her to medal, she stuck with a very challenging free skate program and killed every moment of it. I'm so proud of her.

Mirai's been tremendously inconsistent in recent competitions, and she's also been working without a coach, which is never a good sign for someone's focus. There isn't any reason to think she would have done better than the group we sent.

Michelle Kwan was a 5-time world champion. To discount that just because she never won gold at the Olympics is ridiculous.

SMAP is definitely still going. I don't think they are as active as the younger boy bands but they've been releasing singles consistently since they started.

I'd also say Twilight Samurai (2002) is a worthy entry into the canon. Less action, but it's thoughtful and beautiful and the climax is fantastic.

From what I could tell, it was basically a combination of difficult programs, Olympic pressure, and exhaustion. Yuzuru Hanyu has always struggled with stamina issues (for one thing, he has asthma) and is pretty much always way stronger in the SP than the FS, so it wasn't surprising to see him struggle there. It does

Yeah, by the time it airs on NBC (which I think is when they do the commentary) it's already happened about 12 hours ago. It was especially obnoxious when they pretended that Plushenko was going to skate when already he'd dropped out hours ago.

Yes. I think it really works artistically, not just as an "important" movie. There's way more going on than just brutality—the performances are stunning, and it's filmed and scored in a very interesting way.

After Life is probably my favorite, but Maborosi, Nobody Knows, and Still Walking are all fantastic IMO.

Blue Is The Warmest Color was ineligible for timing reasons.
