You know, I don’t think I’m naive. If anything, I tend to view myself as closer to the cynical/suspicious side of the spectrum. But for the life of me, I don’t understand supposedly smart, savvy men being so fucking stupid and unsavvy about this stuff.

Yep. And he’s supposed to be deported when he gets out.

I remember when she was supposedly 32, and people were like, “she can’t possibly be just 32.” She might just have an old face. (Well, to be fair, she has a new face, now.)

I think I like your cat.

Oh, I tried that with one of my cats once. She did the political protester “go limp” thing and I ended up having to drag her.

I would not trust any of my cats not to head for the proverbial hills were we to go hiking together. Their loyalty (and their intelligence) is just too tenuous.

I figured it was either she was drinking a lot or she was entertaining other men and they were both drinking a lot. I’ve wondered about it too, though.

I associate it with “Ode to Billie Joe” because they’re both complete stories in song form. I find the latter kind of irritating for some reason (I think the laid-on-thick Southerness of it bugs me), but if either song comes on the radio, I have to listen to them the whole way through.

Really? I don’t think he’s necessarily a better actor than Clarke (though I don’t hate her so YMMV).

I don’t think that’s fair. I’m in the minority, tending to believe Previn over Farrow and not necessarily believing that Dylan was molested (though of course I don’t claim to know for sure, and I believe that *she* believes she was molested). I’ve only posted a few times today because 1) it kind of sucks being on the

I think the name changing is just indicative of a larger pattern. Farrow treated her adopted kids like pets and was in no way qualified to take care of children with physical and emotional problems. Unless you believe the Farrow narrative (backed up by Ronan above) that her household was an earthly paradise of

On the flipside of that, I was at a baseball game Friday and That Guy was sitting behind me. (That Guy is always sitting behind me at games. Sigh.) That Guy was sitting with another dude, but that didn’t stop him from mansplaining - literally half the game I had to listen to him pontificate on every fact he’d ever

Lively is actually a good actress! I get why people dislike her for various reasons but she really is a good actress. I thought she was good in The Town, in a performance that a lot of people made fun of. I also really liked her in The Age of Adaline; it’s a weird movie but I liked it better than I thought I would.

I’m getting to the point where I kind of wish we could just ignore Junior. I mean, he’s no better or more significant than a million Trumpsters and/or Russian bots, so I don’t see the point in amplifying his words at all. (I realize that by commenting here I’m making myself part of the problem, but I had to get that

Thank you. One of the things that makes me paradoxically distrust Farrow, and the Farrow family’s side of things, is their insistence that growing up in the Farrow family was a magical experience. There’s so much evidence to the contrary.

EXACTLY my thought - I almost said so.

I went to an all-girls school and as a result I don’t think I *knew* 60 guys when I was that age. Certainly not to the degree that they could be tracked down and would remember me and be willing to swear that I was a swell person back then.

Counterpoint: window treatments of all kind are ridiculously expensive.

It’s cute that her campaign is blaming “extremely high voter turnout” for the loss. So-called progressives seem to favor low turnout almost as much as Republicans do.

Edwin Edwards and his much-younger wife had a very entertaining one-season reality show a few years back. I know he was corrupt as hell, but he was likable on the show.
