I feel so validated right now! :)

As I said to Jetgirly, most food pictures don't really fall into this category. I wouldn't care for those either as that's not my thing, but at least I'd get the appeal.

I once read someone describing such as "pictures of undeserving food." They generally are. I've never found someone's food photo to be appetizing. And most pictures aren't even of what you describe. People snap and post random crap they're having. Billions of pictures of Starbucks cups, fast-food fries, etc.

I really do not understand why people insist on photographing their food. Is it a beautiful wedding cake? No? Then just eat it, please. Just enjoy your meal.

Not wanting to hear someone's dogma doesn't make someone a bigot.

People read an awful lot of subtext into my snark.

I read it all. I answered the part I cared to. Am I doing that wrong? Maybe you should explain to me how I should do it instead over the course of several comments.

No, it really isn't, but okay.

Yes, it is very self-important of me to think you were taking my replies seriously when you responded to them with multiple paragraphs after I quipped in reply. Super duper self-important of me. It wasn't actually a request to be taken at the face value of my replies which were, at best, flip and, at worst, kind of

Yes, I learned a lot about myths of all kinds in my comparative literature courses. And by reading myth books as a kid because they were cool. And being into Egyptian lore. And and and.

This is an article about something and of necessity is narrow. It's ridiculous to draw any conclusions as to how this child is being raised based on it. Also, how on earth in the US is any child going to avoid knowing about religion? She isn't. She's going to hear about it all the time.

Please stop taking me so seriously. It's late on a Friday night and I'm just not up for it.

Seriously.

Why depress the poor thing with all that misogyny and genocide and crucifixion and interspecies sexing?

Yeah, I think I'll let her mom raise her and not sit around concern-trolling other people's kids and those kid's decisions because it's none of my fucking business and who cares anyway?

That's hardly an equal comparison.

Yes, we certainly wouldn't want her to miss out on all the inherent misogyny and you simply can't learn to be nice to other people anywhere but in religious texts.

Religious people are always convinced that if an unbeliever just learns more, they'll believe! It never seems to sink in that a lot of unbelievers don't believe because of what they already know about not just science but also religion.

Did you read the article and the quotes from her? Her willingness to learn more is why she doesn't believe in fairy tales.

You're probably younger than I am. It will happen.
