Me, personally, because of how much I dislike tv, do not go to restaurants with them. I feel nothing but pity for those who cannot even be away from a tv for 2 hours, while they eat.

Universal remotes have to be calibrated to the television. I bought one since the one we had was accidentally thrown away. We need make, model, and then had some stupid thing to where you had to hold down this button and that button, then push this...well, we could never get it calibrated to our tv.
