Moving to attend a better high school (for better athletics and/or academics) is not unusual at all. I agree with that. But to move a whole family just so a kid can play 1-2 years on a Little League team with the extreme long-shot hope of that team making it all the way to the Little League World Series? This wasn't gerrymandering. This was taking kids who should have been on other teams and putting them on JRW. Yes, 12-year-olds understand this. They know where other kids live.

I have a ton of LL experience as a player, coach and parent. My son's all star team was even DQ'd one year because of a pitch count violation in a game that we won. The coach was confused by the rules, but it did not matter. It was a matter of four or five pitches too many and we forfeited a game we won by 10 runs.…
