Everyone should have a chance at redemption, yes, but redemption for such an immoral act should never come as easy as it has in the case of Mon-El. There should have been more interrogation of the fact of his slave-owning and a deeper introspective gaze on his part, but alas, the writers aren't in it for the attention

I personally thought James was a much better love interest for Kara. He was charming and suave in his own way. More importantly, he respected Kara and was not half as entitled and obnoxious as Mon-El is. Only the writers teased their pairing to the point of no return and should have pulled the trigger sooner. And yes,

Of course the storytelling was rushed, a little too rushed, but given the constraints and framing of the episode, the writing and acting maintained the greatest authenticity possible. And I too hope that the actual reunion is more, shall we say, 'soft' with less plate-breaking.

As if POI is a paragon of realism in non-simulated mode. The actions depicted in the simulated scene were nonetheless consistent with both characters give or take a few exceptions.

"Girl on girl"? It's called a same-sex love scene and it more or less accurately represented both characters.
